The world in upheaval - transformation and its opportunities
The war in Ukraine and the resulting gas shortage are heavy burdens for German industry - but they are also transformation accelerators. The change from fossil raw materials to other forms of energy will now take place more quickly, and mechanical and plant engineering can supply the necessary climate protection technologies for this. The energy supply of the future is one of the major topics at the 13th German Mechanical Engineering Summit in October. In the interview, VDMA President Karl Haeusgen also looks at Europe's future role in the triad, the opportunities for transatlantic cooperation and new free trade agreements, and explains what he hopes for from the summit visit by Economics and Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck and US Ambassador Amy Gutmann.
