The occurrence of micropitting on gears can be significantly reduced or avoided by using a lubricant with a correspondingly high micropitting resistance. For this purpose, lubricants must be characterized and approved with regard to their micropitting resistance using the micropitting test according to FVA 54/7, for example. Since this test method was defined approx. 30 years ago, comprehensive investigations were carried out in the research project FVA 779 to transfer the test results to modern practical gearboxes. In addition, investigations were carried out to further develop the existing test method. This web seminar shows some results of the research project FVA 779
