Current challenges such as climate change, automation and digitalization require a fundamental transformation of our society and economy. The mechanical and plant engineering sector plays a decisive role in this, particularly with regard to technological progress and innovation. Only with solutions from this sector can change be implemented sustainably and new business models be developed.

In order to make the solutions from the North Rhine-Westphalian mechanical and plant engineering industry visible, ProduktionNRW is establishing the event series "Enablers and pioneers: Mechanical engineering shapes the transformation". The kick-off event will focus on exemplary business models of the circular economy, also known as the circular economy.

The circular economy is a megatrend that describes long-term changes with far-reaching effects on society, the economy and the environment. By applying the circular economy, companies can make their use of resources more efficient and at the same time act in a more environmentally friendly way. The mechanical and plant engineering sector plays an important enabler and pioneering role here: the industry provides important technologies for the transformation in other sectors of the economy. In addition, core concepts of the circular economy, such as the focus on high product quality, the provision of service-oriented offerings and the extension of product lifetimes, are already common practice in the industry.

The kick-off event will begin with an introduction to the opportunities of transformation, focusing in particular on the circular economy. Exemplary business models for circular transformation from WILO SE, igus GmbH and Kampf GmbH will then be presented. These approaches are intended to encourage other companies to actively engage with the key transformation topics.

The series of events is aimed at managers and employees from mechanical engineering companies and companies along the value chain. The focus is on the development of topic-related networks.

Moderation: Hans-Jürgen Alt
