The AHK East Africa is organizing a business delegation trip to Kenya in cooperation with SBS Business and with the support of the VDMA. This is a project-related funding measure as part of the BMWK market development program.

16x9

The trip is aimed at companies in the relevant mechanical and plant engineering industry that are interested in exploring market entry or expanding their existing activities in Kenya.

Kenya is an important hub in East Africa. The port in Mombasa is the largest in the region. Many international companies have their regional headquarters in Nairobi and serve the surrounding markets from there.

The food and beverage market will develop positively in the coming years. Euromonitor expects real output growth of between 2 and 3 per cent per year until 2029. Sales of packaged food are also expected to grow by around 3% annually in volume terms. Exports of German food processing and packaging machinery have also recovered somewhat after a difficult few years and in the first 10 months of 2024 were almost 26% higher than in the previous year.

In Nairobi, the delegation will take part in activities and events aimed at getting to know the local market and evaluating specific business opportunities with potential Kenyan partners. In addition to a presentation and networking event, individual B2B appointments will be arranged for each participating German company with potential Kenyan business partners and end customers, who will be identified and recruited in advance based on the ideal profile of the contact person specified by the company.

The market development programme is primarily aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Germany that are involved in food and packaging technology, as well as refrigeration and storage technology. The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 12 companies.

The project is subject to the de minimis rules. The companies' own contribution to participation in the project is, depending on the size of the company:

500 EUR (net plus 19% German VAT) for companies with an annual turnover of less than 2 million EUR and fewer than 10 employees

750 EUR (net plus 19% German VAT) for companies with an annual turnover of less than 50 million EUR and fewer than 500 employees

1,000 EUR (net plus 19% German VAT) for companies with an annual turnover of 50 million EUR or more or with 500 or more employees

The registration form is available via the link below. The registration deadline is 14 February 2025.
