From 21 - 24 November 2023, the VDMA and the AHK Milan will be organising a delegation trip for German process technology suppliers on "Security of supply climate-neutral gases, petrochemicals and natural gas sector Italy".
Italy has so far been similarly dependent as Germany on Russian pipeline gas imports (Russian gas import share to Italy 2021: 38.2%). Both countries are increasingly relying on LNG imports and are currently expanding their LNG and natural gas infrastructure. In the future, both countries are also focusing on further development of the gas infrastructure for climate-neutral fuels such as biomethane and hydrogen. In both countries, the chemical and petrochemical industries are facing major challenges to become climate-neutral by the middle of the century. This can only be achieved through adapted process technology. Process technology, in turn, is offered by both German and Italian manufacturers, so that despite all the competitive situations, there could be cooperation here and there - especially for new climate-neutral solutions, which could then in turn become interesting for other export markets, whether in Europe or overseas. For the latter, in turn, access to some Italian EPCs is very interesting.
The VDMA has therefore proposed to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection a business initiation trip "Security of supply and infrastructure security for natural gas, petrochemicals and chemicals". The BMWK (German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action) is now organising this delegation trip from 22 - 24 November 2023 together wiht the German-Italian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Milano) and VDMA.

The business initiation trip is officially supported and organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. Interested VDMA members were able to put their names on a list of interested parties as early as May (see download). In the meantime, the official registration documents are now available: intersted parties can registere here. The delegations is restricted to max. 12 companies; two participants each.
