With such licensing agreements, the Chinese subsidiary often obtains the necessary intellectual property (e.g. know-how) from the parent company to manufacture products for the Chinese market. One of the biggest challenges is aligning the German and Chinese tax perspectives. In addition, most licensing agreements must be registered with the Chinese authorities before royalties can be transferred abroad.

The following topics will be addressed: Registration requirements, registration procedures, payment procedures and tax issues for the four most important types of licensing agreements in practice
